Hey, guys! Today's video are six signs your guinea pigs love you and are tame. Guinea pigs are prey animals, and it can be hard to tell when they feel comfortable around you as most of them don't show their love as openly as other pets. However, there are some signs to tell you that you're your guinea pig's favorite person. So, here are six signs your guinea pigs love you.
Your guinea pigs lick your hand.
Guinea pigs lick each other's ears to calm each other down or to show affection. If your guinea pig licks your hand, it's showing you their affection. Or, alternatively, you're sweaty, and your guinea pigs like salt. In either case, your guinea pig isn't scared of you and enjoys your presence.
Your guinea pigs continue sleeping in your presence.
This one might seem disinterested at first, but a guinea pig that continues sleeping when you enter the room or talk to your guinea pig is a very comfortable and happy guinea pig. Piggies don't sleep for hours at a time as humans do. They have shorter phases of sleeping and being awake, which means that they often rest and awaken quite easily. A guinea pig that continues sleeping when you enter the room or make a noise resists their instinct to get up and be alert. Instead, they know that you're their favorite person and all is well with the world.
Adapt to your routine.
Guinea pigs are hungry little creatures and are very clever when it comes to remembering feeding times or chances for extra treats. If your guinea pigs are already waiting for you when you come home from school or work or are awake and looking at you when you get up in the morning, they love you very much.
Yawning when waking up.
A guinea pig that gets up quickly after resting is alert and wary of its surroundings. When guinea pigs take their time waking up—yawning and stretching for a few seconds and then slowly making their way over to you—they are resisting the prey animal in them.
When your guinea pig talks to you.
Sometimes your guinea pigs will talk to you. This might sound weird at first, but hear me out. You might come home and greet them or talk to them while entering the room, and your guinea pigs start wheeking when they hear your voice. Your guinea pigs are showing you affection by including you in their conversations. Usually, this behavior can be interpreted as "Well, there you are, human! Please bring snacks." In any case, I hope you feel loved when your guinea pig does that because not everyone gets to bring them snacks.
They climb on you or push your hand away or whatever else involves contact.
Guinea pigs don't tend to cuddle with each other once they've grown up, so whenever they actively try to play with you, they show you that they love you so much that they don't mind something that's not exactly natural for them.
These were signs your guinea pigs love you. I hope you enjoyed this video and see you guys next time. Bye!
