Chances are good that at some time in your life you've taken a time management class, read about it in books, and tried to use an electronic or paper-based day planner to organize, prioritize, and schedule your day. So why do you still feel like you can't get everything done? The answer is simple: Everything you ever learned about managing time is a complete waste of time because it doesn't work.
很可能在你人生中的某些時間你曾修過時間管理課、在書裡讀過怎麼管理時間,還有嘗試用電子或紙本日程表來組織、排定優先次序以及安排你的一天。那為什麼你還是覺得你沒辦法完成所有事情呢?答案很簡單:你曾學過關於管理時間的一切都只是浪費時間,因為那沒有效果。

The reason time management gadgets and systems don't work is that these systems are designed to manage clock time, and clock time is irrelevant. You don't live in clock time; you live in real time, a world in which all time flies when you're having fun or drags when you're doing your taxes. The good news is that real time is mental. It exists between your ears. You create it, and anything you create, you can manage. Practice the following techniques to become the master of your own time.

One: Carry a schedule and record all your thoughts, conversations, and activities for a week. This will help you see how much time is actually spent producing results, and how much time is wasted on unproductive thoughts, conversations, and actions.
一:攜帶日程表,記錄一週你的想法、對話以及活動。這將幫助你辨別有多少時間是真正用來創造成果,又有多少時間是浪費在沒有收益的想法、對話以及活動上。

Two: Any activity or conversation that's important to your success should have a time assigned to it. Schedule appointments with yourself and create time blocks for high priority thoughts, conversations, and actions. Schedule when they will begin and end.
二:任何對你的成功有重要性的活動或談話都應該有一個訂定的執行時間。安排與自己的會議,並替須優先考量的想法、談話及行動定下時間計畫。規劃出它們開始及完成的時間。

Three: Plan to spend at least 50 percent of your time engaged in the thoughts, activities, and conversations that produce most of your results.
三:至少將你一半的時間規劃出來,投入在那些創造出大部分成果的想法、活動和談話上。

Four: Schedule time for interruptions. Plan time to be pulled away from what you're doing.
四:將可能受到干擾的時間列入計畫。規劃出從你眼下處理事物被支開的時間。

Five: Take the first 30 minutes of every day to plan your day. Don't start your day until you complete your time plan. The most important time of your day is the time you schedule to schedule time.
五:將每天一開始的三十分鐘用來規劃你的一天。在你完成你的時間計畫前,不要開始你的一天。你一天中最重要的時間是你安排好用來規劃時間的時間。

Six: Take five minutes before every call and task to decide what result you want to attain. This will help you know what success looks like before you start, and it will also slow time down. Also, take five minutes after each call and activity to determine whether your desired result was achieved.
六:在每通電話和任務前花五鐘決定你想得到的成果為何。這會幫助你在開始前瞭解成功的樣貌,這也會讓時間不要流逝太快。此外,在每通電話和行動後花個五分鐘來判定你想得到的結果是否有達成。

Seven: Put up a "Do Not Disturb" sign when you absolutely have to get work done.

Eight: Practice not answering the phone just because it's ringing and emails just because they show up. Don't instantly give people your attention unless an immediate response is absolutely crucial in your business.

Nine: Block out other distractions like Facebook and other forms of social media unless you use these tools to generate business.

Ten: Remember that it's impossible to get everything done. And remember that odds are good that 20 percent of your thoughts, conversations, and activities produce 80 percent of your results.
十:記住,完成一切是不可能的。還有記住,很可能你百分之二十的想法、對話和活動創造出你百分之八十的成果。
