A Letter to Grandma
How have you been? I haven't heard from you since I last received your postcard. I miss you very much. This summer, I visited Meinong with my classmates. Meinong is a small Hakka town in Taiwan. It is famous for its paper umbrellas. At one of the shops, we watched a man making a paper umbrella. We also painted little paper umbrellas by ourselves. I like the town very much. I want to go there again because I haven't visited the Meinong Hakka Cultural Museum yet.
By the way, have you decided on Cousin Ted's wedding gift? If not, how about a pair of paper umbrellas from Meinong? For Hakka people, a pair of paper umbrellas is a gift to wish good luck. That's because the shape of an open umbrella is round, and "round" means "perfect." Isn't that an excellent idea for a gift? What do you think?
Hope to hear from you soon.
