When we became parents, we wanted our daughter to play with toys that helped her imagination blossom and her social skills thrive. Like so many parents today, we were also concerned about the impacts of screen time on her development.
當我們為人父母，我們會希望我們女兒玩的玩具能幫助她啟發想像並發展社交技巧。如同現今許多父母，我們也會擔心長時間盯著螢幕對她的發展產生的影響。
The majority of tech toys today only serve to distract children. We love technology, but the toy market is lagging behind in creating unique technology experiences for kids.
現在大部分的科技玩具都只會讓小孩分心。我們愛科技，但玩具市場對於為小孩創造獨特科技體驗的部份還是很落後。
Turtle Mail is a wooden mailbox for kids that has a thermal printer inside. It's Wi-Fi-connected, so family and friends can send messages to children from a computer or mobile device. Those messages get delivered as printed mail for them each day.
小烏龜信箱是一個專為小孩設計的木質信箱，內有熱感式印表機。有無線網路連接，因此家人和朋友可以從電腦或行動裝置傳訊息給小孩。那些訊息每天都可以列印出來，作為郵件傳送給他們。
Turtle Mail also lets parents subscribe their kids to daily activity content that adjusts for their age and interests. Kids can get content from the characters they love. And they can even get notes from their favorite toys to help their imaginary worlds come to life.
小烏龜郵件也能讓父母幫孩子訂閱每日活動內容，內容可依據他們的年紀及興趣調整。小孩能收到他們喜愛的角色所寄的內容。他們甚至也可以收到他們最愛的玩具傳來的短訊息，幫助他們的幻想世界成真。
We designed Turtle Mail's appearance to allow children to use their imaginations in creating its personality.
我們設計小烏龜信箱外觀的目的，是為了要讓小孩運用想像力創造它的個性。
Turtle Mail gives kids a unique way to save and look back on the moments they've shared with their family and friends. We've worked with dozens of families to create the Turtle Mail experience. These families have used Turtle Mail to communicate with their kids while away at work or their grandchildren while living across the country. One mom is even using Turtle Mail to keep in touch with her boys while she's deployed with the Navy. Turtle Mail inspires adventure, artwork, stories, and memories.
小烏龜信箱賦予孩子們一個獨特的方式，讓他們能保存並回顧和家人朋友共享的時光。我們已經和十幾個家庭合作，以打造出小烏龜信箱的體驗。這些家庭使用小烏龜信箱，在外出工作時和小孩聯絡，或是和住在國家另一端的孫子孫女聯絡。其中甚至還有一位母親是在海軍服役期間用小烏龜信箱和她的兒子們連絡的。小烏龜信箱激發了冒險、藝術、故事和回憶。
We had our daughter, Adrienne, when I was a junior at Carnegie Mellon University. Nico was a stay-at-home dad while I finished my education. So much of our lives change when we became parents. I disliked how often her electronics pulled her away from the world around her, so I dedicated my senior year to designing toy concepts—they used technology to connect the digital and physical worlds. After months of research and testing, I developed the early concept for Turtle Mail. Nico began working with me to mock up 3D models and prototypes.
在就讀卡內基美隆大學三年級時，我們有了女兒 Adrienne。在我完成學業的同時，Nico 擔任家庭主夫。為人父母後，我們的人生改變了很多。我很不喜歡電子產品常常將她拉離她周圍的世界，所以我大四的時候致力於設計玩具概念－－這些概念是運用科技來連接數位及實體世界。經過幾個月的研究和測試後，我開發出小烏龜信箱的早期概念。Nico 開始和我一起工作，模擬 3D 模型和原型。
The idea gained so much traction with parents and kids that we decided to establish AE Dreams, dedicated to making screenless tech toys. Our vision is to create toys and use all the exciting benefits of technology while still keeping kids in touch with the world around them.

We have many ideas that will follow Turtle Mail—ways to make kids' most favorite toys in the world become even more magical. We want to give children a sense of adventure, without removing the children's role, and building an experience with their own imaginations.

We've put together a team of designers, engineers, and parents who want to build products that have families' best interest in mind.

Over the past year and a half, we've taken Turtle Mail from a sketch on paper to a product ready for manufacturing. We've come to Kickstarter to raise the funds we need for our first round of production. With your support, we can bring Turtle Mail to life and deliver them to their new homes.
