The oldest one is the Curse of the Billy Goat. So in Game 4 of the 1945 World Series, the team began receiving complaints from fans of a smelly goat in the stands. The goat belonged to the owner of the Billy Goat Tavern, a guy named Billy Sianis. He and his farm friend were ejected from the stadium. And on his way out, he shouted, "Them Cubs, they ain't gonna win no more." And they didn't.

While Ron Santo was in the on-deck circle, a black cat came out of nowhere and ran past him in front of the Cubs' dugout, and then disappeared... Following that, the Cubs' slide continued, and the team missed the playoffs.
